    Cool Inexpensive Mods

    My fellow Cummins enthusiasts.

I wanted to share some inexpensive mods I've done that hasn't cost me a fortune.

I understand some mods are worth every penny when purchasing from a known, big-name company.

If you're like me, sometimes you look for a cheaper alternative.

Here are two mods that don't require you to take out a second mortgage.

    First Mod: Heater Hose Fitting

This little Plastic "elbow" broke on me in a remote location, and it took six hours to get back up and running again.

I replaced it with two pieces.
    1. 10 AN X 1/2 NPT Oil Pressure Inlet Fitting. $25.14
    2. 90* 10 AN Female Swivel Push on/Lock hose fitting end. $12.99

That mod cost me $38.13. If you were to buy it online from a company, they would range from $90.00-$250.00

Second mod: Transmission Cooling Line Upgrade

For us 68RFE guys/gals, those little metal retaining clips can cause headaches.

Mine decided to break and release the metal cooling line in the transmission.

Not only did I dump most of my transmission fluid, but I had the luxury of fixing it in the snow.

Here are the parts I used to fix this:
4x 3/4-16 UNF Male 8 AN Flare Oil/Fuel/Fluid Union Hose Fitting Adapter $9.29 ea. Total: $37.16
    1x 20ft. 8 AN Stainless-Steel Braided Fuel/Oil Line $48.90
3x 90* 8 AN Swivel Hose End Fitting $6.49 ea. Total: $19.47 (I ended up only using two, this might differ from year to year)

    This mod cost me $105.53.

If you were to buy it online from a company, they would range from $278.00-$350.00

Both mods have been in place for almost two years now.

    I've had ZERO issues.

I hope this helps, and if this topic has been covered before, I genuinely apologize for the repeated post.

    -Don
