Thread: RaceME Ultra Blackout?

    RaceME Ultra Blackout?

Has anyone ever experienced a sudden blackout with their RaceME Ultra or any other tuner monitor?

I lost power to mine the other day and can’t figure out why.

I have power at the OBD port, and I have checked the continuity on all three cables.

RaceME sent me a new com box, which isn't working either.

Any help or ideas are appreciated.

    Thank you!

Check the USB connection on the back of the monitor.

Make sure it’s not loose fitting and it’s snug.

That connection has been known to give issues.

    I had it happen once.

I had to reformat the SD card (FAT32; this will erase all contents.

After that, you will use the RaceME update agent to restore the contents of the SD card.

    RaceME Ultra Blackout?

Update - frustrated with the quality of the RaceME cables and equipment.

For the price, it just seems like there shouldn’t be any issues.

I am returning everything to RaceME for a refund.

I called Mike at Same Day Tunes and ordered an EFI Live V3 and Pass Through Switch.

I am going to try that setup.

    Re: RaceME Ultra Blackout?

    Don’t bother with EFI live.

Go with Double R Diesel’s MM3, and be glad you did.

Honestly, almost every tuner you’ll come across will be somewhat fragile.

Take into consideration what it is exactly.

    It’s a computer monitor.

As long as it’s secured and you don’t jam the damn USB connector in the wrong way.

On the flip side, it’s also easy to do.

Regardless, Double R and an MM3 are the best way to go.

You are shooting yourself in the foot by downgrading from a RaceME to EFI Live.

I’ve been running a RaceME Ultra for about a year with zero hardware issues.

However, I did have my OBD2 port get full of a mix of dust, and cigarette ashes, with the box plugged into it, which caused a very similar issue as your state.
