I’ve decided to go the built trans route and proper tuning via Ray.

That said, I’ve been researching the builders and have kinda narrowed it down.

Revmax 550 with their goodies, Firepunk rated at 650, but dunno about the tuneless valve body, and lastly is Randy’s stage 2.

All are pricy, with the Firepunk being a bit cheaper; with that said, any recommendations?
I went with https://www.bentonsdiesel.com because he is pretty close to me.

He is a good guy, also.

Those three transmissions can not really be compared to one another as all are rated for different power levels.

I always recommend going with an aftermarket od/input drum and a billet shaft.

That will be most builders' stage two or 600 and above rated.

The 550 from revmax is just a cut-down pressure plate in the stock OD input housing that allows more clutch.

Since their buyout and subsequent price increase, there are better deals to be had.

    Appreciate the info.

I looked into Benton’s stage 2 seems to have a decent parts list, and the price is closer to Firepunk.

    I don’t have any local shops I trust to build a 68RFE.

I’m here in eastern NC, about 45 mins from OBX.

So for the price point of these two and the hp rating, which would be the better buy?

Or even open to other suggestions.

Benton’s, WP Developments, DNJ Components, Flat Out Diesel are a few good ones all are guys that I’ve dealt directly with over the years between buying parts getting and sharing info with etc.

    Randy’s is a good choice.

Firepunk is newer to the 68RFE scene, but their reputation on anything cummins related is second to none in my opinion.

Their tuneless option is good you can still get trans tuning as far as shift points and TC lock up, but the line pressure has to be set at stock levels in the tune.

The only reason I’d shy away from Revmax is the price vs what you get from their build.

    They build good stuff.

After the reading and whatnot leaning towards Benton’s stage 2 750hp or the WP developments 650hp rated 68RFE.

Both seem to offer good components and a better price point.

And, of course, I will be using Ray for trans tuning.

Does anyone here have any experience with either of their builds?
