WTB: Intake Horn - Grid Heater Delete?

Hey, their friends; I’m looking to do a grid heater delete and intake horn that I can use the preheat.

Can you please send me some recommendations?

    THE TRUCK IS 2012!

Also, do I need to do a retune from DRD after the installation?

    Thanks.

I would recommend going with Glacier Diesel.

See post#15 in the link below and the GD website for the Air Boss grid heater delete plate, Mega-flow S2 intake horn, and Mega-flow grid heater. If you don’t want to purchase the intake horn, you can reuse the stock horn.

    No, retune is necessary.

    Thanks, sir.

I saw the Monster-ram comes with a little heater coil type thingy.

I didn’t know if anyone else offered anything comparable!

I want a horn that mounts up to my existing hose, and I don’t like the block-off plate on the top.

The Banks Monster RAM is the only intake horn that offers the little screw-in heater.

You could drill and tap other intake horns to accept this type of heater; however, I am not sure if that heater draws enough current to satisfy the trouble code logic, so you may get a trouble code if you let the grid heater cycle before starting.

Hopefully, others will chime in with more information on that.

The GD S-2 intake horn will mate up to your existing intake hose with their Mega-Flow TVM grid heater attached, and there is no block-off plate on top of the horn.

Edit: see “note” about the P2609 trouble code in the link below.

I have been running the banks with the stock grid heater deleted with the Bank's intake horn, and the coil seems to work just fine.

Where I live, it’s regularly below freezing in the winter, and at 0 degrees, it starts pretty well, even unplugged, whenever I cannot plug it in.

I don’t think it works as well at the stock grid heater, tho—also, no trouble codes for me.

WTB: Intake Horn - Grid Heater Delete?

I have the old style banks monster RAM.

I called them and they told me the screw type is pn# DIH4.

    Hole size is 22mm x 1.50.

I just wonder if the dih4 units sold all over web is what BD is selling for $150.00.

Does anyone have insight on this?

Just like AK I have a glacier diesel. I stayed with the stock horn and I’m very happy with it.

White Ram 2500 4x4 Laramie, Tuned, 625 ARPs, Revmax transmission with a billet input shaft, billet flex plate, Revmax thermal bypass, Revmax deep pan, Revmax billet valve body,
4600 shocks, Airdog 165, ARE shell, Line-X, ICT grid heater delete, Glacier diesel grid heater, stock size tires and wheels, stock suspension, mostly just a stock truck.

I picked up a pusher intakes, intake horn and grid heater delete. Have not installed it yet but looks solid, welds and finish are very nice.
