Did you do anything with the shift interlock?
Shifter cable adjustment is pretty straightforward.

What is the shift interlock?
Regarding adjusting the shifter cable, is it just where it attaches to the lever ball?
I did adjust that.
Is there anything else?
I’m curious if there’s a particular path to follow with the cable.
When the cable is attached to the shifter but not the trans, I can go through the gears.
I’ve seen guys talking about having to do something to the bracket for the cable to be lined up properly to allow the trans to shift.
The Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) is part of the shift lever assembly and is non-adjustable.
See attached.

Hey Bob that looks like it's for a column shifter.
Any other ideas? LOL.
Sorry, this is all the information I have for the shift interlock.
I assume you need a BTSI function for a console shifter to allow shifting out of the park.
