Quality Shop In Central NC Wanted?

    I live in Linden, NC.

I have had my truck at a shop (Pat's Performance Fayetteville NC) for almost nine months, and the mechanic has destroyed my motor.

I am at the point I have gotten authorities involved and filed a consumer affairs complaint.

However, I still need my truck fixed. I am looking for a good mechanic that may have to pull a motor.

If you have any suggestions, or if anyone can recommend someone, I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Quality Shop In Central NC Wanted?

I'd assume thats his but im blocked by him.

I had my truck towed there in March for a tapping sound.

Due to dealing with the warranty company, lack of labor, and medical issues truck sat till July.

Then it was diagnosed as a piston ring, and the piston needed to be replaced.

    Warranty paid for the work.

The owner told me there were trucks ahead, and he would get to mine ASAP.

Finally, in September, after numerous excuses started working on the truck.

I had the motor reassembled end of September but couldn't get it started.

He blamed the batteries, starter, and fuel system as other issues he had to fix.

Then I found out he put the wrong piston rings in and destroyed the motor by trying to start it with the wrong size compression rings installed.

He has removed my motor twice now.

Every week with him, he tells me it's almost done.

Without my consent contacted the warranty company to file a claim to replace my motor claiming the elements ruined it.

I have filed a claim with the NC Attorney General's office.

Re: Quality Shop In Central NC Wanted?

I finally got my truck back.

The mechanic put an extremely rusted (not mine) engine into my truck.

He did not wire it up correctly; half the wires hang in the wrong places.

He fried my PCM and even the dealership had trouble accessing codes.

The Hood wasn't even tightened down.

The power steering was empty breaks don't work.

The engine is not on the mounts correctly, and the whole radiator fan assembly is half-cocked sideways.

The dealership said it's beyond their scope of repair and needs a new engine.

I took my truck in for a knocking sound, and now I have a boat anchor.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to get another engine?

Sounds like you need to get a good lawyer.

You would be amazed how many lawyers told me it wasn't worth their time.

Re: Quality Shop In Central NC Wanted?

That will be the kicker at the end of what the dealership said.

Granted, there is a more significant issue at hand, but it will be hard getting it fixed using most shops with the aftermarket parts and the situation with the ECU.

If it were me, I would try talking to them first to recoup any money you have put out; even though this may not be an option, you tried.

This may also sound crazy, but for the cost of that repair, you can find plenty of Cummins motors in really good shape from donor trucks online, and some may even offer a warranty for a short period.

More than likely, this sounds like a small claims court situation.

I would take as many pictures as possible of those parts and the work done.

I hope you get it sorted out nothing worse than a shop like that.

Unfortunately, a long time ago, I had a similar situation with a shop not honoring their warranty on a built six thousand dollar transmission for a 7.3 that lasted only 10k miles.

Ultimately, I sold the truck because I did not have money to fix it, so I feel your pain.

Well, I filed with my insurance company for the damages to my truck.

I figured the comprehensive coverage I pay extra for would cover my truck.

Thats still up for debate between them and me.

Unfortunately, mess, the owner refuses to honor my warranty; in NC, they have the right to refuse service.

Now I am trying to figure out my next course of action.

Shops I've contacted around here won't work on it due to the liability that I get.

I'm digging around online for donor trucks and looking for shops around here that I can trust.

I only have one shot at getting it right this time.

If anyone has any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'm new to the Cummins world; I had only had my truck five months before this started, and it's been a year this month it's been in the shop.
