Dealer Software Update Locks Out Tuners?

@DRD does this affect MM3 also?

Do you happen to know what the software number is that is doing it?

Every flash file I've seen shows "security updates" lists in the related flash file TSB, so I can't tell solely from that.

I'm assuming it will be the y78 recall flash, though.

    I've heard some rumors.

So unless you are getting a CP3 recall done, do NOT get any dealer PCM updates.

Right now, we only have one software file available to flash to the 19-20 trucks, which is coupled with the CP3 recall, and that software update can only be performed with the CP3 recall.

So far, there have been no available flash updates for trucks that have previously had the CP3 recall performed hence why I think they updated the CP3 recall flash recently.

We have seen no truck get locked out by dealer recall flash for a CP3.

We have had some that needed special recovery files afterward before the MM3 would work again, but that is no problem for the guys at MM3 Power.

If this is true of any sort, it's unfortunate that you purchase a truck worth 65K-100K, and they want to control what you do with it!

    WRONG IN OUR BOOK!

So I got my pump recall completed on Sept 12th.

Plan on turning EGR and DEF off only.

I had to take a long-distance trip, so I wanted to get that over with before getting the goods.

I get back from my trip a get a P026B code thrown every once in a while.

    No drivability issues were noted.

They have a software flash that is supposed to fix it.

    TSB 18-102-22 REV. A.

Now, this may or may not fix.

Can this code be fixed through MM3 tuning?

    Thoughts?

We would have to ask @DRD if the P026B can or should be fixed with tuning.

    My guess would be no.

I have attached some information on this code along with checking the fuel delivery system.

I would try the software patch first.

Either way, you will be covered under warranty.

    Thanks, AK Bob.

I looked over my paperwork from the pump recall and didn't see anything noted saying the PCM was flashed.

I just wanted to avoid going back to the dealer and them flashing something that would lock things out and being unable to get rid of a few things.
