Intermittent Dome / Map Light Issue

I purchased a 17’ RAM 2500 & noticed that the Dome / Map Lights work intermittently.

The info center on the dash will show that the doors are open, but the interior lights will remain off.

If they don’t turn on after the remote unlock & opening the door, they will turn on when the key is in the ignition.

If the truck is running, they might turn on if you open the door too, and other times not so much.

Does it appear that the lights might be LED?

As they are a bright white color.

The Dimmer switch will not turn them on as my 09’ did.

    Any advice?

The attached link contains information may help.

Is the LED dome light a factory soldered in assembly or an aftermarket LED bulb?

Seems to be an issue with aftermarket led bulbs.

I switched back to OEM-style bulbs & everything works.

Did you try to rotate the bulb 180 degrees to see if that works?

Most LEDs will only work one way.

That is good advice; however, in this case, the LED lamp worked but caused intermittent trouble on the CAN bus.

My bad, I read that earlier and should have reread it before answering. LOL

I didn’t as the LEDs worked sometimes & sometimes they didn’t.
