Actuator Bad? Replace Or Go With New Turbo?

Guys, I have a 2015 2500 with 70K, and the turbo actuator went bad.

I was thinking of just going with the city diesel upgrade or a Fleece Cheetah or turbo time Dominator turbo.

The truck has a full tune, FASS 165 fuel, Fleece CP3, and ARP 625 studs.

Trans was rebuilt using Revmax parts, and they said it is good to around 550 HP.

So my question is, what would I gain from the upgraded turbo?

Would I gain any noticeable improvement in power?

No towing, just a daily driver-Is it worth the extra $$ to go with a new turbo?

Thanks so much for the advice

My advice would be to go with the City Diesel actuator.

2014 RAM 3500 (Aisin) 3.73 4X4 Limited Crew Cab Long Bed DRW. Oil Bypass Filter, Fuel Filtration Kit, Cold Air Intake, City Diesel Actuator and 50 Gallon Aux Fuel Tank.

This is the time to think about the truck and your needs.

Are you getting bored with the power you currently have?

Considering you don't tow and have a thing or two in the trans.

You have supporting mods "other than injectors" to go with a bigger turbo.

I don't want to give misleading info about transmission info; however, going with a new setup with providing a jump in power may give you the "new truck syndrome again."

Only 70k miles on a turbo isn't bad at all.

It is or would be cost-effective to go with a new actuator.

I don't want to see you go through my steps on buying things and regret it after your 4k into a setup and turn around to sell it and go a different route.

    VGT, 2G SWAP, COMPOUNDS

Things I didn't ask myself at the time, nor had a goal set up either.

Buying once, not twice, "unless it's compounds" is the way to go.

In my experience, I never really noticed significant power differences until upgrading the injectors.

If you want an awesome daily driver that will be fun but still be able to do everything from towing to hauling, go with a 2G Swap. Run an S467 and pair it up with some BBI 1.5 (45% overs), and your all set.

The FASS 165 is plenty of lift; not sure which CP3 your running, but 10mm is all you need.

My only other advice if you decide to go this route is to knock out the valve springs and pushrods.

Re: Actuator Bad? Replace Or Go With New Turbo?

    I need help, please.

I bought a city diesel actuator about three years ago and installed a few things (exhaust, MM3, etc).

Everything was good until recently when the batteries went dead.

The truck sits because my son is away at college.

This last time, I charged the batteries, went to Auto Zone, and bought new ones, but there was no engine brake, and the U10C code “lost communication with turbo. “

The actuator is less than three years old.

    Could it be a fuse?

EB light still lights up but is not working.

The truck doesn’t seem to have the oomph it did

Check the voltage on the batteries.

If one is bad, buy 2.

I feel it's voltage-related based on how it sits most of the time.

Low voltage will cause erratic symptoms with sensors and other electronics.

With fully charged batteries, try clearing the trouble code.

If the code won’t clear or comes back, check the power and ground at the actuator and perform the resistance checks in the attached PDF from DDP.

I have also attached the troubleshooting information for the U010C trouble code.

I will try this out, but I can’t thank you enough for your help.

I'm glad I joined this forum back when I did, but I am still not used to it and have a hard time navigating it.

Just FYI, I replaced both batteries, and they are new, but I will perform the checks you listed.

You are welcome; we are glad to have you here.

I have attached the turbo actuator plug pin-out in case you need it.

Call your dealer; in 2015, they covered this issue.

They did for a pal of mine.

Some special policy adjustments or limited service campaigns.
