After two years, my starter gave up the ghost one morning.

I turned the key and did nothing but grind.

I searched the forums, and nothing was found on my problem.

I figured the starter had given up the ghost, as in the past few weeks, the starter got loud before it finally started the grinding.

I took the batteries out and had them load-tested, and they were good.

I figured it was the starter, and I had no problems getting the starter out.

I checked what teeth I could see on the flywheel, and those were good.

Read reviews on the remanufactured starters, and all got 1-star ratings.

I don't care that they have a lifetime warranty.

I dont want to change starters every two years.

Read up on XDP heavy-duty starters and the MEAN GREEN starters, and I ordered the XDP starter.

Install was pretty straightforward.

The wrinkle finish flakes off with a mere touch, so if you want to preserve the finish, be careful.

The other gripe was the male side of the connector on the starter; the blade was off-center.

I made a slight adjustment and then got the connector to slide on.

I finished tightening and torquing the bolts.

Put the engine bracket back on and installed the batteries.

The truck fired up pretty quickly compared to the old starter.

It remains on longevity.
