Thread: Rolling In Park?

    Rolling In Park?

The truck had the parking brake hanging up, so I jacked up the rear tire to work on it, and the truck started to roll back.

I jacked up a front tire to see if it would do the same thing, and it holds when the trans is in the park on its own.

My question is if anyone has had this and knows a potential cause.

Am I guessing the shaft to the front differential or the differential itself?

If the rear holds on its own, I wouldn't think it would be a trans issue.

    Safety First!

When jacking up, your truck should be on level ground with wheels chocked.

Once jacked up, jack stands should be placed under the axle.

The parking brake only consists of a separate pair of brake shoes on the rear wheels.

See attached information on the parking brake.

Please let us know if you need the inspection and adjustment procedures.

    Jacked up one tire?

It will roll when in park if one tire is off the ground.
