48RE Trans Cooler Line Check Valve - To Remove Or Not

I have a Mishimoto cooler incoming (to the UK) for my trans.

I see endless discussions about the check valve delete, but nothing sells it to me to do it.

"While I'm in there," do I delete it?

Is there any benefit to deleting it apart from waiting for my TC to fill up in the morning?

I don't tow (yet), but a few off-roading long hill climbs, Roads used on the UK series of top gear, Grand tour and an off roading run at the Welsh Strata Florida, have made me question my stock cooling setup on my built trans.

    Hence the Mishi purchase.

Temps got to smarty alarm at one pull.

    Others wandered close to 200.

Does removal of the check valve allow faster fluid flow, to heat exchange, to cool to dump back into the pan?

    Definitely remove the check valve!

They are really bad about blocking flow and and causing overheating or converter lock up issues.

Would anyone have advice on how to remove the ball?

I have a Mishimoto cooler to replace the stock cooler too.

OK, so I got the cooler off today. I could do with advice.

Without going nuts and going via Mishimoto's advice and cutting the pipework 5" back from the hump, I pulled the line with the check valve off.

I returned to my shed and went at it with the drill.

The spring, the small metal mesh, eventually made an appearance, but the ball was some metal mesh/plastic homogulated mess.

What is the ball made out of? Is it plastic? Brass? Because I'm a bit worried about reinstalling the line.

Washed out with a bit of solvent, more metal chunks came out, rinse, repeat.

    Now washed out with degreaser.

Hopefully, the photo shows what I think dropped out.

In any case, once the pipes dry, it'll be cut and installed.

It's clean where the check valve used to be.

The alternative is to take it to a hydraulic shop and get them to knock up a hose.
