    Tow Haul Button?

I turn my tow haul mode on, and the truck seems to run way better when I’m getting on the throttle pretty heavy.

    This is unloaded also.

The shifts seem to be spot on for my liking.

Of course, once I’m no longer giving it heavy throttle, I turn it back off.

Has anyone else noticed the difference, or is this to be expected?

    Thanks,
    Ed

    I agree.

The shift pattern gets more aggressive, holds gears longer, and is generally more responsive overall, considering the factory 3.42 gear ratio.

However, I do notice I get about 1-1.5mpg less overall hand calculated, so I am experimenting with not using it for a couple of tanks to get an average.

I also put my exhaust brake to auto instead of full.

I also like running the tow haul for shifting.

When I select tow/haul, exhaust brake on full or auto, and drive at steady 1500 to 1800, all I notice is it holds 5th gear longer.

I know I'm just putting it along.

However, the downshifts are more aggressive with tow-haul, as expected.

    Re: Tow Haul Button?

    I don’t get why the 68RFE doesn’t downshift well.

It jumps from 2nd to 5th, then you slow down, and you are in fifth and boggy.

The tow haul seems to hold and downshift properly. Maybe I messed up the relearn.

    It’s like the Allison.

Sometimes it’s trying to learn the driving habit.

    I guess I wouldn’t say I like that.

I wouldn’t want to know what it’s like without the tuning, LOL.

I use the tap shifter alot to shift up/down.

I pretty much drive it like an auto/manual valve body.

Not a fan of letting the 68RFE

I let it stay in 4th-5th at 30 mph, then the 5-6th teeter-totter at 50 mph.

I've gotten to the point/habit every time I drive the JUDGE; it's just become a natural instinct to reach down and push the tow/haul button. (Much different reacting 68RFE)

When I know I'm going out on the highway; I also push full auto exhaust break to hopefully help keep the Turbo Vanes some what free of soot buildup and save some life of the OEM brakes and rotors.

Tow Haul mode holds a lower gear longer and allows a downshift earlier.
