Thread: Brakes Snatching Wheel Left?

    Brakes Snatching Wheel Left?

    What's up yall?

I have a braking issue on which I can not find any info—2016 RAM 2500 4x4 87k miles.

Driving home last week, pulling into my road, I applied brakes as usual, and the wheel snatched left, pulling me into oncoming traffic.

It did this about three times before stopping, and everything was fine, so I assumed a stuck caliper.

When I drove the truck the next day, I got a code (I can't remember the code, and my pic is blurry) stating, "implausible vehicle speed received."

I pulled over and cleared the code, and 1 mile up the road, I got the message "Service ABS System," but the brakes worked fine.

Yesterday on the way home, the problem happened again, snatching the wheel left; I also noticed when this happened, the message for "Service ABS System" was now off.

Service ABS comes back on, and the brakes work fine.

I need to get this corrected, but I don't know where to start.

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Have you pulled the wheel yet?

    Thank you,

No, I have not; I have been busy and have not done anything except give everything a once over.

Right before it happened, I had an idiot riding my bumper, so I took it up to 120, slowed down, then turned.

It snatched the wheel about 5 miles after that.

I do not know if it's related or not.

Pull the wheels and see if the PINS might be frozen.

Usually, that is the issue and needs some anti-seize which is an easy fix.

Bad wheel bearing on that side causing the speed/abs sensor to act funny and causing the brake to lockup

I had the wheel bearing assembly replaced on that side 6 months ago.

Possibly a bad bearing out of the box.

I assumed it to be something electrical because when the service indicator goes out, it pulls left, and when it’s on, it drives fine.

I would check the guide pins to ensure they aren’t sizing up like the other guy commented that they might get hung up.

Did it snatch as you applied the brake or as you released it?

    When I applied the brakes.

I’ll check the pins this weekend.
