4th or 5th Gen RAM Cummins?

I finally got rid of my Duramax to go back to a Cummins.

Is there any reason I should choose a 4th or 5th Gen, over the other?

I absolutely will not have another CP4 truck.

Are they still doing the recall replacements?

    I keep getting conflicting information.

Having both a '16 and '17 RAM, both DRD tuned.

There is no question who will get the nod to tune the new one.

However, I keep reading about the no power before 50% throttle.

Any details or experience on this?

How does it affect throttle response (what I liked about my 4th Gen's)?

Any other reason why I should choose one over the other?

    Thanks.

Newer tech on the 19-up trucks for sure.

Go for whatever your wallet can afford; trucks cost what houses do nowadays.

If I had the choice and the funds, I'd go with 2021 in Laramie or higher trim for the better interior, 3.73 gears as standard vs. 3.42 on 5th gens, which is a huge plus, and I think if you have 2021, its CP3 pump only, but someone can confirm

22's cannot be tuned as of yet, so don't hold out for that.

Thanks, I like the sound of the 3.73 vs. 3.42.

Personally, the more I read about CP4 issues (2021 and up have CP3) and some of the quality issues some have had with the Gen 5's, the more and more I like my Gen4.

The Gen 5 has some improvements in the interior, but the Gen 4 isn't far behind.

It has plenty of power and none of the power above 50% throttle tuning.

The Gen 5's are good trucks; it's that my Gen 4 has been rock solid.

I have no desire to get something different.

It pulls my little 5'er around like it's not there.

My 2017 Laramie Longhorn has never had a single service issue.

I have a water leak in the roof now, but that is the ONLY issue my truck has had, period!

I would rather have 3.73, but since fuel prices increased, I have been happy, and it will still pull whatever I need.

The 17 and 18 are as solid as you will get in a RAM HD!

It's an older thread, but I'll comment on a 5th Gen.

They are quieter in the cab.

Ram did such a good job insulating these newer rigs.

My buddy's 2015 RAM was much quieter than my old 02 7.3.

This 5th Gen is that much quieter than his 4th Gen.
