Hey everyone!
So here in the not-so-great state of Illinois,s we just had the first 38-degree cold start morning this yea,r and I had something odd happen.
I auto-started the truck, gave it a second to heat cycle, and it fired with no issues, but after about 30-60 seconds, it noticed a weird noise from the house.
Only to find out the truck, instead of sitting at high idle or normal idle, was reveg up on and off.
My tuner said the max RPM was 1100, so it must have been up and down for some reason.
So I hopped in the truck and turned the key on, and then the relaxed idle back to 700 RPMs, and after a few seconds, it went to high idle at 1000rpms where I let it sit for another minute.
It drove fine and warmed up with no issues.
I think it sounded like it was kicking in and out of high idle.
This is the first morning it’s done this.
It’s a 17 6.7l on a diet with a RaceME Ultra running the 120hp tune.
No discolored exhaust or anything of that nature, but it was pumping out a decent amount of black smoke due to the revs.
I know this was long-winded, but I will try and capture a video of it tomorrow and see if it does anything similar.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
I’m pretty new to this truck and platform, so this is my first winter with it, and I’m still learning it.
