    I was always under the impression that 1200+ sustained is asking for trouble.

    Nah, 1200 is OK.

    I think people relate aluminum melting point with max egt even though combustion temp is well beyond aluminum and even steel melting point.

    Keep in mind that it’s stock tuning/hardware set up.

    I don’t know how advanced timing (which lowers EGT) and aftermarket turbos affect max safe get.

    With advanced timing or added fuel and possibly aftermarket turbos, I think you might want a lower EGT threshold.
