    No Crank Issue?

So yesterday afternoon, I drove to Walmart and discovered that the truck would not start; it would not crank or click.

Roll the key forward, and everything comes on as it should, but the starter doesn't turn.

I climbed under the truck and crossed the terminals and the starter bumped, so I assume the starter is okay.

Swapped horn relay with starter and put a new ignition switch in with no luck.

Any ideas where to look next?

I don’t have a wiring diagram for your truck, but I would first check for battery voltage on pin 30 of the starter relay with the relay removed.

If you have the power there, then carefully jump 30 to 87 (Be extra careful not to jump 30 to 85 or 86 as you could fry the PCM or BCM); if you can crank with the jumper, then the issue is on the control side of the relay circuit.

As I mentioned, I don’t have a wiring diagram for your truck, but one thing that comes to mind on the control side is the Park/Neutral safety switch.

I hope this helps and others will chime in.

    Please keep us posted.

    No Crank Issue?

Just found a blown 30amp after triple checking the fuse box.

I will replace it and see if that does it.

It had a hairline crack I could hardly see.

Well, it blew as soon as I turned the key.

Believe it controls the starter relay.

With the start relay removed, check for a short to ground at pin 87.

It could be the starter solenoid windings are shorted to the ground.

I replaced the starter, assuming something was bad internally, turned the key, and no go.

I got a meter, pulled the starter relay, and tested the pins in the box, red wire on 87 and black on all other pins.

    I am getting no continuity.

I don't know if that is correct or not.

I have attached the starting circuit diagram for my 2014.

Yours should be similar, but you will need to verify.

Measuring the resistance between pin 87 at the empty relay socket to battery negative, you should see some resistance as you read through the starter relay coil to the ground.

I would start with, do you have battery voltage at pin 30? (Measure DC voltage between the empty relay socket pin 30 and battery negative) if you have that, does the start relay click when someone turns the key?
