It's Time - Transfer Case Rebuild

Whelp, 209k miles, and it certainly sounds like the T case needs a rebuild.

I see various kits online; it sounds like cards in spokes, which leads me to a bearing.

    Any recommendations?

I've never ventured into A case yet; I really don't know much internally about them.

    Thanks, fellas.

This video may be helpful, just to get an idea of what’s involved.

Transfer cases are pretty simple to rebuild.

Get a spec sheet and go for it.

They are pretty simple to rebuild.

Even more so if it’s a manual t-case.

Most of the ones I’ve opened up need a chain.

The bearings and gears are pretty stout.

It's an oddball sound I hear.

It seems to be a Metal click sound which could be the chain stretch and slight skipping on the sprockets.

The Trans guy said it could be from the bearing going bad.

Hard telling, I give him the truck the 2nd week of October to verify.

    Thanks

Minor update: replaced both u-joints on the rear drive line and the rear pinion seal.

All vibration is eliminated; however, the sound is still there.

It only does it in 2nd gear, 10-20mph.

I've locked it in and out in all gears; as soon as it shifts to 3rd or 1st, there is no sound or chatter.

I hope it could be trans-related, as I have a warranty to lean on.

Checked the fluid level in the transfer case; perfectly fine and pink.

If you have any other suggestions anyone wants to throw at me, I'm all ears.

Even in 4wd, the sound is still present in 2nd gear.
