Help - Fuel Pump Recall Performed Now Power Steering Leak

I had the fuel pump replaced at the dealership, and I got it just as they were closing, and the service advisor had left.

Tried to remote start, no go, and opened the door, but the power steps do not deploy.

Tank as close to empty as it could be, and I have never let it get <1/4 tank.

Starts up fine and sounds different; CP3?

Drive to the station, and fill it up.

    Get home and park it.

For the last three days, there has been an audible humming, electric, and not sure what it is, so I keep driving.

Yesterday I decided to look under the engine, and there was red fluid.

I have to presume power steering fluid.

OPtimistially I tell myself they mustve spilled some when topping it off.

I was in a bit of a hurry.

This AM much more pronounced sound, particularly when turning.

I made it out of the driveway before I concluded I wasn't driving it today.

She is parked at my house.

I want to avoid the dealership if possible.

Was any work done on the steering when replacing the fuel pump?

    Moderately inclined regarding mechanical work.

    No engine mods.

    Thanks for any help.

    Not sure where to start.

Besides removing the belt, they shouldn’t usually need to remove the power steering pump when replacing the CP3.

    See attached procedure.

It sounds like you have a power steering fluid leak that is possibly causing the sound you hear from the power steering pump.

You also have multiple other issues you didn’t have prior to the recall service.

I would recommend documenting your concerns and taking photos, then returning to the dealership for them to authorize you to drive or come pick up your truck and fix all these issues under warranty and also provide a free rental vehicle.

If they are unwilling to comply and take care of this issue, I would write a letter to FCA. Sorry to hear you are experiencing this.

The power steering pump pressure line gets replaced as part of the recall.

I would take it back to the dealership since everything was working before the recall replacement.

May I suggest if you do get another steering box.

Buy A redhead 6 bolt box with a support brace with it.

They are the best in the business with zero play "if all other steering components are good."

    How did you make out?

Did the dealership take care of the issues?

Sounds good, as @Chrisn162001 stated they do replace the power steering pump pressure line as part of the recall, something l didn’t know.

Hopefully, just a loose connection, and the pump checks out okay.

    Please keep us posted.

So they replaced all the lines, and after 100 miles, no leak.

    No abnormal sounds.

    Thanks, everybody.

    Thanks, AKBob!
