Thread: P0402 Code?

  1. Top Of Page | #1

    P0402 Code?

    2019 RAM 4500 Limited.

So far, I have changed the map sensor and the EGR valve.

I’m still getting the P0402 code, but it’s only randomly.

I put a new air filter on the Banks intake system.

    Any thoughts?

It’s becoming annoying at the 2000rpm with its surging it’s doing.

I don’t have any troubleshooting information on your 4500.

I have attached what I do have for your trouble code on a 3500.

See the possible causes section hopefully; this will help.

They don’t mention the MAP sensor, but they reference the MAF sensor as a possible cause.

    Re: P0402 Code?

    Thank you.

It’s the same, and just the map is on the back of the intake shelf instead of in the intake horn.

I replaced the EGR valve last week to take that out of the equation.

I usually clean my MAF and intake air temp sensor every oil change (it’s right there might as well).

The EGR system is slightly different from a 2500/3500 truck, but it all does the same by polluting the intake tract.

My map was nasty when I pulled it to change it.

When cleaning the sensor, you're using the proper MAF\MAP cleaner, correct?

Some people, believe it or not, use brake cleaner, which is horrible.

I just thought I would ask and help rule it out for you.

    Re: P0402 Code?

Oh yes, I know the acetone will kill the sensor.

    Re: P0402 Code?

Took off the Banks air intake code went away.

I spoke with Banks; they know there is an issue, and the problem is that their intake flows too much air.

They are working on a solution.

I did install boost tube now I have a p2002 code; these trucks are too b*****y, I swear LOL.

Attached is information on your new trouble code.

I am scratching my head trying to figure out how the increased airflow on the intake side affects the exhaust pressure differential across the DPF.

Does the PCM think there's an intake air leak now?

    Re: P0402 Code?

My DPF is cracked, I think.

I touched my exhaust pipe, which turned my finger black like my 12 valve.

Well, now that makes more sense.

Hopefully, it will still be covered under warranty.
