    Stripped Sex Nuts On Valve Cover

    Doing some maintenance on the truck and wanted to check the CCV filter and realized that 2 of the CCV cover bolts, 3rd one from the front on both sides, were spinning.

    After taking the other six bolts out, the cover came off, and the sex nuts were stripped out of the valve cover and stayed with the bolts.

    How serious is this? When I put it back together, everything seemed OK and tight.

    Stripped Sex Nuts On Valve Cover

    It will or could cause some leaks while under pressure.

    I would think about rethreading the bad threads and drilling the next size up, thread, and helix coil possible.

    Sorry, I should have been more specific.

    The sex nut came out of the valve cover; the sex nut spun in the valve cover sticking to the bolt.

    It's one of the stud bolts and the one straight across on the opposite side.

    Maybe JB Weld the sexnuts into the valve cover?

    Yes, I would try that or some two-part epoxy.

    You may want to chase the threads also if they are binding.
