    Glacier Grid Air-Boss 67 Delete Plate/Glacier Mega-Flo Grid Heater

So I finally got around to installing these two parts today, and I wish I would've done a how-to for everyone.

Anyway, I went in not expecting a lot, just wanting to get the OEM grid heater death bolt out even though I thought about just disconnecting the oem heater in place and rerouting the power cable to the new heater.

All I can say is I am so glad I decided to go all out with the delete plate and heater.

The intake horn was full of soot way worse than the grid heater.

Honestly, I felt most of my time was spent cleaning the intake horn and inside the block of soot.

I will post a picture of the oem grid heater.

I wish I had taken pictures of the intake horn and sensor as it was full of soot, and honestly, I don't know how the sensor didn't fail or how the truck was even breathing.

After cleaning everything up and putting it all back together, I noticed reduced EGTs by 50 or 100 degrees and a tad bit more throttle response.

Customer service was fantastic with Glacier diesel, and I highly recommend them and their products.

Believe it or not, I haven't messed with the oem plate yet or bolt to see.

I spent so much time cleaning stuff and getting it all back together that I went to sleep shortly after LOL.

I will check it here shortly and give you an update.

I will also take some pictures of the final product.

But man, I am telling you the intake horn was terrible, and this truck had the doctors fix it at 99k and it was that bad.

I also bought this truck at that mileage and figured maybe the guy before I idled the truck a lot, but noitss idle hours are low 200.

It's a shame these engines come to use like this now with the cost associated with them.

I look forward to seeing the pics.

You can thank the good ole EPA for that emissions crap, LOL.

    Yeah, it was terrible.

So the bolt is solid, no play, but just tons of soot, obviously.

Glad it's out after seeing what was in there.

Here are a few pics of the finished product and one of the old grid from this morning.

    The installation was not terrible.

The fun part is the back two injector lines.

If you do this install, ensure you torque each injector nut at the cylinder to 37 ft-lbs.

It's straightforward to overlook, and like the instructions said, once you break the torque on the injector lines, you will lose the torque at the cylinder head.

I think 4 or 5 of the 6 had to be torqued back to spec.

I am so glad it's out and clean!!

I agree. I am glad to have removed the stock heater like you did and replaced it with the Air Boss and the Mega Flo TVM heater.

I paid my local shop for the installation as I knew I'd run into a hiccup and be cursed at by my wife for missing out on time with the family.

I was also getting the EGR crap removed simultaneously, so the shop just did everything for me in one shot.

I also just reused the factory intake horn blocked off; although the GDP intake horn is gorgeous, I think it wouldn't do much for me except look pretty and make my wallet lighter.
