    Allison 1000 Swap Behind A 6.7L Cummins

Well, this will start documenting what it takes to put an Allison 1000 from a 4x4 Duramax behind a 2018 6.7L with a 68RFE running RaceME Ultra.

This is for those who can’t afford or would instead not go with the ATS setup.

I don’t have any first-hand exp with their stuff, I can’t justify 15k for this, and it’s not pressing yet.

Step 1: source Allison 1000 off FB marketplace. I paid $250 for the trans and torque converter.

I have my eyes on a 2000 out of a fed ex truck for $300 that I’ll steal the bell housing from.

Next will be tear down the 1000 and build for the intended power level, get the correct torque converter and TCM, and figure out how to make it work with my existing programmer.

Intend to be in the 600-650hp ballpark all said and done, and I am assuming this will run about $8,000 or so.

This is going to be a heck of a project.

    Good luck!

I’m oversimplifying it to some extent here for sure.

However, I do some side work for a particular local Cummins specialist who’s done a few of these before; that is the difference between knowing exactly how much of an undertaking this is with a 12v or 24v vs. a late model 6.7L.

That being said, This is just for a truck that i drive on a day-to-day basis.

The actual fun project I’ve got in mind is to source a “black” 6.7L from China for an excavator or other similar nonconforming piece of heavy equipment, and running it in a beat to **** second gen, with a 48rfe behind it, throw out all the Chinese internals, set up a head that’s worth a damn, studs, an injection pump that’s not intended for a 215hp tractor, and an s400 frame turbo.

Are there easier ways to achieve a similar goal?

Yeah, but the cool factor of having a unicorn factory mechanical injection 6.7l from China is worth the hassle of getting the motor sent here somehow.

I just put a copilot on my truck yesterday afternoon, putting around.

Today it shifted and felt better behind my Cummins.

I have the ATS valve body flex plate and torque converter going in when I get time.

Transmission is still sitting here as it was.

I probably will go with Randy’s transmission for a better-than-stock 68RFE before putting an Allison behind it at this point.

I agree with that sentiment plenty of great builders out there.
