    Pitman Arm Noise?

So a couple of weeks ago, I had a faint clunking in my front end whenever going over uneven surfaces; I narrowed it down to be the pitman arm as the nut backed off, I cranked the nut back down, and the sound went away for a day and came right back, however, the nut appears to be still tight and the crush washer flat.

So at this point, I'm not sure where to go with it; however, the gap between the pitman arm and steering box has me curious as it looks to be a little hefty.

The truck has a BD steering brace on it also.

Pitman arm looks seated to me.

Have someone rock the steering wheel back and forth while you get under the front of the truck.

Look for stuff that’s moving and shouldn’t be or vice versa.

It could be the box or a rod end.

Check your track bar bolts, too, and they’ll definitely clunk if they’re loose.

    Who’s lift is on it?

I had my old lady rock the wheel, and all appears to be tight.

I replaced the tie rod ends and drags link about a month ago; new Far From Stock long control arms as well, track bar seems to be tight.

I'm going to dig into it more one of these days if it's not ever 100+ degrees here in south TX.

The lift is claimed to be Skyjacker, it was in the truck when I bought it three years ago.

That might be part of the problem.

If it’s a Skyjacker track bar or drop bracket I’d look there first.

    Been there.

I finally got around to tracking down the popping noise last weekend; I had my brother-in-law jack up the front axle one side at a time to make the suspension articulate; once I heard it pop I started grabbing components to feel where it was coming from.

It ended up being the bushings in the Far From Stock radius arms on the axle end binding and making noise, I pulled them out and coated them with grease, and the noise has been gone since.
