I drove through it, and it’s nothing like it was 8 years ago.
I want to get away from where I’m now and be better off.

It’s definitely not like it use to be 10-20 years ago.
Back then it was a great town to live in but not anymore.

I can agree with Asheville being nothing but garbage now.
As far as inspections go, you shouldn't have any issues.
I live in Haywood and haven't had any issues, and as he said, there are no emissions.
Tons of trucks around here have the magic done to them, haha.
The only feelings you may hurt with your truck are in Asheville.
Or as I like to call it...TRASHVILLE!

Yeah, definitely.
I try to keep my truck out of there, so they don't complain.
I drove downtown this evening to avoid the I-240 backup coming from east Asheville, and OMG, those damn Asheville hippie freaks were all over pack square and downtown protesting and banging their drums and blocking the streets.
I am so sick of this city and the trash here.

Yeah, it's funny as people seem to be wonky because certain counties do emissions inspections (Buncombe, Wake, Durham, a few others) on *GAS VEHICLES* - diesels are exempt from emissions testing requirements even in the counties requiring emissions inspections if that makes sense so no worries.
Good luck with Asheville - we were there in December 2018 when my wife first got pregnant, and it was $hitty then; I can only imagine how they are after the 'summer of burning' and a few more years go by now.
I used to be at Fort Bragg.
There is a place up highway 87 towards Sanford on the left right before you hit the Wendy’s and car wash.
The only guy, I go to and he charges $13.
By law, they can only charge $13.60 (safety only, add $10 for window tint).
If they charge more for an inspection report them - my .02
Diesels are exempt, as mentioned in the state of NC, counties whose emissions test indicates non-exempt (gas) vehicles.
For what it's worth, it's not just diesels that are exempt.
3/4 ton and up gas trucks are also exempt from emissions in NC.
I had mine inspected in Guilford County last month, and it was only a safety inspection.
