Do you have a Deep Pan or any other mods installed?

I installed a Revmax unit in the past few weeks.

I almost forgot an o-ring going back in.

Mine will get up to the mid 150s on my 33-mile commute in the afternoon heat.

Better than 168-172 that it was doing.

On short trips or my morning commute, I see the magic 140 number.

    No deep pan on mine.
Keep in mind that @cgunter73 is currently operating with the thermostat assembly installed in his Mishimoto bypass valve.

Your Revmax bypass doesn't have a thermostat, so it's a complete bypass through the cooler.

Ah yes, I had to double-check the original post.

I figured I'd ask the OP anyway to see if there was a magic combo to get the numbers many claims.

It couldn't hurt to compare brands even though most are similar outside the Mishimoto.

For the price, the 15-20 degree average drop in temp in 80+ degree nasty humid midwest weather is hard to beat.

I plan on removing the thermostat this weekend to compare.

Towing my trailer, it ran about 180 one day (hot day) and around 170 the next (not as hot).

After unhitching, it stayed around 155 160 on the highway and in town.

To answer the question, no deep pan, just a stock pan.

    Mishimoto Thermo Bypass - Install/Thoughts

Update: I removed the thermostat and have been driving around for about a week and a half on some extremely hot and mild days.

I haven't towed with it out yet.

On the hottest days, highway temps stayed around 156, and city driving stayed around 165.

Mild days around 140/145 city was around 160.

I just need tow data now.

It does take longer to get up to those temps, so I agree that you are cooling the volume of fluid sooner rather than the volume of fluid coming up to temp first, then starting the cooling process.

My truck has never had a transmission problem or fluid overheating problem either driving or towing my fifth wheel in 120k miles, but running cooler is always better.

I think the bypass is upgrade prevention rather than a necessity, except when running in hot weather all the time or towing in hot weather all the time.

I think proper maintenance is the key to longevity and treating the transmission not like a hot rod or 18 wheeler transmission.

    There are limitations.

    Thanks for the update.

When you removed the thermostat spring and plunger from the housing did you lose very much fluid or was that a relatively clean process?

Probably about a pint of fluid.

I did the change while the transmission fluid was cold.

Re: Mishimoto Thermo Bypass - Install/Thoughts

So, does it seem the Revmax bypass runs cooler than the Mishimoto with the T-stat removed??

I have a Mishimoto bypass with t-stat new in the box, yet to install.

If Revmax runs cooler I may get one and sell the Mishismoto.

I purchased with T-stat because I live in Michigan.

Do I really need the Tstat?

I've seen multiple posts stating the Trans is running in the 140's range.

Just got done with an 8hr trip to the mountains with a bed load pushing about 900lbs and my trans temp never went above 146°"

@TheJonJon are you running a Revmax bypass

I don’t think one runs cooler than the other for full bypass.

When it starts to get cold I will reinstall the thermostat.

In order to warm the fluid up.

The trans temp never gets past 160 in the winter with the stock valve.

A lifetime warranty and thermostat options sold me on the Mishimoto

Yes, Revmax's thermostatic bypass was done before I tuned her up.
