    Allison Swap

Ok, I mentioned in a previous post that I had one ordered from ATS.

Here is the deal I ordered a level 5 Allison swap for 2019 Cummins for my truck.

I rarely drive my truck solo but decided about 2.5 months ago to drive it on a Saturday; while shifting from 4th to 5th, the transmission felt like it down shifted.

    It didn't down-shift it smoked 5th and 6th gear.

I got the dreaded "incorrect gear ratio 5th gear" error.

I pondered the thoughts of ordering a built 68, but I couldn't ever get right knowing, regardless of how "built" a 68 is, that it would not ever be a sound and dependable transmission.

So, I ordered the ATS Allison swap.

From the beginning of the process to determine which way I wanted to go till the arrival of the Allison swap, ATS was completely professional.

Regardless of how small the question was, I never seemed to bother Adair.

He was incredible, and he stated he understood that this was a significant investment and wanted to ensure that I made the proper decision.

We talked about built transmissions (68), but I couldn't ever wrap my head around the possibility of always having a weak a** transmission.

Once, the order was placed it took about 5 weeks for the unit to arrive at my job.

Upon arrival, I looked at the packaging, and it was impeccable in how they had everything in there.

Everything was shrink-wrapped and very nicely packaged.

I have the installation complete and ready for the tuner to put the tune in the truck so i can drive it.

I will keep you posted, and here are some pics for your viewing pleasure!

    Some install pics.

    Everything fit like a glove!

Perfect engineering on their end so far.

I haven't found any issues up to this point.

I will report back once the truck has been flashed with the Aisin file and I can drive it.

I would certainly have 2 u-joints handy, LOL.

You'll be putting the power to the ground.

I'm curious how well dodges transfer cases hold up with power, i hardly ever hear about their problems.

I take it you got the co-pilot.

There are plenty of 1000hp and up setups using the factory transfer case.

    Looks very nice.

I'd be interested in updates on how the swap performs.

The size of the 68's case is always one thing that underwhelmed me for what it is put behind.

Not the co-pilot but the translator.

The translator makes the truck think that there is an Aisin in it.

Unfortunately, I am in a dilemma with a failed EZ Lynk flash (which has its own thread looking for assistance).

Trans has been ready to go for 6 days, and the tuning is holding me up.

Arghhhh, that is why I haven't given any updates.

Here is the EZ Lynk post I made about the failed flash. ---> EZ Lynk failed flash (igotacummins.com)

    Re: Allison Swap

Update: I have fired my local tuner.

The truck ordered the tuning from Motor Ops CA.

I overnighted, and the tracking information shows delivery this evening.

Fingers crossed, this will fix the issues that I have.

Again, just like ATS (who recommended these guys), Motor Ops CA has been incredible.

No surprise there since ATS recommended them.

    I will keep you informed.
