    Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

Has anybody swapped their stock air intake tube for the Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

If so, what were the results?

I was mainly talking on a 4th Gen.

I know there are alot of fans of the S&B Cold Air Intakes, but it seems to me that by adding the Airaid intake tube to the factory RAM Active Air, you would be pretty close to an aftermarket cold air intake set up.

    Thanks.

    What engine?

The connection between scoop and airbox on the diesel is the most significant difference going from stock to aftermarket (S&B or banks).

2021 Ram 3500 DRW, H.O., bypass oil filtration, bypass coolant filtration, S&B CAI, 4:10’s
    2wd low loc kit.
Reacquired 2001 3500, 5.9 nv4500, dually cab and chassis, 5” straight pipe, edge juice w/attitude. Otherwise all stock…..for now.

    6.7 Cummins.

The Airaid tube seems to provide an air intake tube very similar to current aftermarket offerings by Banks and S&B, plus you can get the tube from Airaid for $179.

I don't see a considerable change between the factory air box and an aftermarket one since both the Banks and the S&B use the factory air inlet gate.

I guess what I am trying to say is both of the aftermarket offerings have the same air inlet port in the airbox itself; the significant difference is the air tube going to the turbo.

    I see you have a 2016; I referred to the 19-21 trucks.

I should have paid better attention.

    You are correct.

    Re: Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

    I have a 2018 3500 G56 with an Airaid tube.

    I also have Banks' intake.

I don't know why my truck doesn't run correctly with Banks'.

I have tried all kinds of things but no luck.

Banks' is louder, turbocharger and exhaust brake.

My setup is KN filter in oem box with Airaid charger pipe.

As for the Airaid, it is better than all stock.

What do you mean with the Banks Intake, your truck doesn't correctly run?

The Banks intake was something I was thinking about in the future, as well as the boost tubes and inner cooler.

I haven't noticed a substantial difference with the Airaid Tube, but I got the sound dampener out to keep the foam from getting into the turbo.

    Re: Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

A bit difficult to explain but here goes.

    A couple instances.

One is when i am cruising at a constant speed but barely pressing the fuel pedal.

An example would be on a flat road at 70mph and barely touching the pedal.

A second instance is when i shift 1st to 2nd: the point at which I initially press the fuel pedal to speed up after engaging the clutch for 2nd.

What occurs is a stutter or hesitation.

I believe the issue has something to do with the air velocity or pressure difference and prob at the location of sensors on Banks’ intake.

But the few people iv spoken with for support have not heard of this issue.

At this point, I give up.

On a different note, I recently installed the intercooler tubes, ram manifold horn, and grid delete manifold plate.

The difference now vs. before is a little.

For example, spooling comes on sooner and smoother, with a quicker acceleration.

Is your K&N air filter oil or dry?

If it’s oiled, I would yank that thing out.

Oil from the filter will get sucked into the turbo and clog up the sensor.

Have you tried removing the Banks and installing your old one to see if that’s the issue?
