    Re: Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

I am gonna do this explanation using dictation.

I have started with all the parts that are supposed to be on the Banks box.

I have removed the little butterfly valve flapper for the air and take the box and actuator.

I have removed and cleaned the sensors inside the charger tube.

I have replaced both sensors with brand new sensors inside the charger tube.

I also received a second charger from Banks and hooked it up to the Banks airbox and filter.

I installed the Banks air filter inbox whenever I installed the intercooler tubes, the ram intake elbow horn, the intake manifold plate, and the heater grid.

I swapped out all the previously mentioned things.

Even after swapping out those above mentioned items and also then installing more Banks items and then reinstalling Banks air intake filter and charger tube sensors etc., it still does the hesitation stuttering when cruising at a X speed and barely touching the fuel pedal to maintain on a flat road, or when shifting from 1st to 2nd you're letting off the clutch and going to press on the fuel pedal.

That millisecond of time is when the hesitations and stuttering occur.

When you're pressing on the fuel pedal and accelerating, it immediately goes away, and it's perfectly fine.

Maybe someone with a G56 and 4th gen has Banks’ air intake system with or without similar issues?

I'm happy to sell the system to someone interested.

Just brainstorming here, but could it be a vibration coming from somewhere in the drive line?

Universal joint going out or slop coming from somewhere else?

Possible motor mount or transmission mount?

You may have already checked all of those items, but like I said, just brainstorming.

The Airaid charger tube used with the RAM active air box doesn't have the issue I do with Banks.

Wouldn't the issue be present with either setup if vibration or other of the brainstorming, as mentioned earlier, thoughts were occurring?

Looking back through your post, I would say you are probably correct.

Still, I can't figure out what about the Banks cold air intake would cause that especially considering everything you replaced between the airbox and the turbo's inlet.

If you figure it out, let me know.

I guess you could send me the Banks cold air intake, and we could see if it does the same on the 2016 2500 with a 68RFE!

    Re: Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

The Airraid tube, although it's pricey for what it is, really cleans up the factory intake but lets you keep the Ram Air Box design which is a great one.

I have an AFE dry panel filter in the factory airbox, and I think I'll add the Airraid tube.

I don't expect any difference except cleaner looks.

I took the foam/plastic dampener out of my intake shortly after I bought the truck, so if anything, it will compliment the look under the hood and be a smoother tube for airflow overall.

I can report back when I get it in to see if there is any difference (sound etc.) vs. factory with baffle already removed, although I doubt any difference.

    Re: Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

I installed mine, and as you said, I haven't noticed any difference in turbo sound or MPG, but it has a cleaner look and removes the foam-covered baffle.

The next item I will do is install a better flowing air filter than the OEM one.

I have heard to steer clear of the oil-impregnated ones due to the turbo ingesting the oil off the filter.

So how do you like the AFE dry filter?
