Regarding the AFE dry panel filter (Pro Dry S), this is the 3rd vehicle I have used on my wife's 2013 X5 diesel, and my 2003 BMW X5 3.0 inline-6 is the other.
No complaints, I clean it per the instructions every 15-20k or so, and it's a good excuse to vacuum out the airbox at that time.
Prices have gone way up since I purchased it, but I always recommend a dry panel filter replacement (nonoiled).
I took out the foam piece in the intake tube when the truck was stocked, but the Airraid tube will give a cleaner look overall, getting rid of the rippled factory tube; it was worth it to me since it was on sale.
I don't know if I'd pay full price for it (almost $200 with tax and shipping).
