Soft Shifting Trans?

My trans seems to be shifting softly.

I have no clue what it was like before the tune since I couldn't drive it too far due to the DEF pump.

It seems to shift soft through all the gears and shifts into 6th at 55, but I have to feather it to get it to shift.

I don't remember any of my others being like this.

Any ideas?

Soft shifting can indicate a few things.

I, for one, are not up to par on transmissions but will help throw out suggestions.

1. Is the Fluid level ok? As well as color?
2. I see you pull a trailer? Could you be nearing the life span on a 68RFE unless you have an Aisin?
3. Clutch packs could have some really good wear or burnt marks on either side of the disc's
4. Not sure, but possibly a solenoid is starting to act up or cross leaks from the Separator plate on the valve body?

How many miles on the trans?

Someone will help you out more with a trans issue, but this will give more info for others to chime in to help

I've not deleted the 17 I just bought, but it has been treated softly.

There is not a service issue in its history.

It shifts as smooth as silk at 78k.

I don't think mine has an issue.

It drives like brand new.

I don't miss the hard shifts.

Thanks all.

The transmission has 57k on it.

The funny part, haven't pulled the trailer with it yet; I just picked it up a couple of weeks ago.

I know that the previous owner had a flatbed installed on it and re-installed the bed, so I have no clue what it was used for.

The fluid level was good, the color was standard, didn't smell burned.

And sorry, it's a 68RFE.
