Thread: Oblivious To The 5th Gen RAM Trucks

Question Oblivious To The 5th Gen RAM Trucks

I need to find the best way to gut the SCR with keeping the factory's new look.

I could cut it open and weld it back somewhere hidden, but are there any other ways to knock it out without having to weld it back up like they are the DPF.

Also, do I need to cut the metal things in the ends that I assume disperse the def fluid evenly from what I gather look like fan blades almost?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you gut it out without a tuner, you will throw it into limp mode unless you plan to tune it, which you stated was out of the question.

    I already ordered the tuner.

All I am asking is the best way to gut the SCR, or will I have to cut it open and reweld it.

I’m not sure the best way to gut one.

I’ve heard of folks cutting them open and welding it back.

Some have stated that when gutting it out that sometimes it will rattle.

Maybe a drill with a long extension with some hole saw or something to that nature, but I believe cutting it open is the best route to get everything out of it.

Hopefully, someone who’s gutted one can chime in.

I believe one of our members had just done this within a week or so.

He ran into issues; if i recall correctly, he drilled the hole too small, which resulted in a smoky mess & couldn't get boost pressures up.

He corrected the issue with the help of a fellow member step by step, which brought his truck right back to life and then some.

I'll tag him if I can find it.

Could you help this member out with what you did for your rig?

I sure hope you're the correct member that i looked up, or I'll look like an idiot.

Re: Oblivious To The 5th Gen RAM Trucks

I can leave all plugs plugged in after gutting the DPF and SCR correctly?

So all I need to do is gut DPF/SCR and put the tune on the truck, and I'm ready to go, correct, or are they more to it.

Are we to assume that you are subject to visual-only inspections?

Otherwise, why not just get the delete pipes and an FTE resonator?

If you need to reinstall, you will have the necessary parts.

I am hoping you are not a troll or a spy.
