    RaceME Ultra Help!

Hey everyone, I need some help here.

I was going to call Canada Monday, but I wanted to see if someone here had experience with the same issue.

I went with Ultra tuner (I figure it was cheaper/easier for now and would upgrade to Warp when I do VB for trans) because I got the 5mph service DEF warning.Did not want to repair factory system and then be left stuck on a road trip.

Tuner installed without a problem, battery charger on for days prior and during install.Used 3.5" carbide hole saw easy for deep cleaning of DPF. Note truck ran great even with service DEF warning 5mph max speed in 150 miles.Truck needed Doser valve, but tuner cleared the warning.

I installed the tuner before it reached 5mph max speed mode, still had 60 miles to go before lockout.

I installed 200hp,1900rp, 29°, quick spool to see what this could do, and I figured I would back it down the next day.

The truck was a smoky mess, with no power at all, even cruising at partial throttle billowed black smoke worse than my 9612v lugging 5th.

I figured, ok, maybe 200 is meant for aftermarket turbo or other mods.

I pulled over and installed 30hp with defaults; the same thing was terrible(low power, smoky).

I installed 120 default everything, which seemed a lot better, but only has power between 30mph and 50mph, and the truck feels like it is restricted.

I can not get over 70ish on the highway, and throttle input does nothing past 1\4 throttle at that speed. Like my pedal is dead past half throttle maybe.

Air filter clean, fuel filters not old again truck ran awesome before the tune.

I am hoping it is the ECM relearning?

Maybe EGR stuck open as I have no clue about these trucks, my other truck I have had since 12' is a 96 12v 5sp dually. I could do all the work on that myself with my friends and I hope this truck is the same.

Thanks to anyone that can help me.

P.S. My turbo is only showing 1-4lbs of boost on dash now, I do not see any leaks, and my EB seems weaker though the gauge for that works.

Sound like everyday RaceME Tuning issues.

What people don't understand is the box tuning is crap!

Get Dr. Diesel to fix you up, friend.

Going cheaper on these trucks is never the answer.

    God bless,

I have heard tons of great things about RaceME

I don't think a significant lack of power and not revving over 2g, and 70mph limit is "everyday problems" with RaceME; there are 1000s of successful installs out there.

I am sure we can find an answer before going "Warp."

    Re: RaceME Ultra Help!

Just clarifying, you stated you installed the RaceMe, and afterward, the truck ran great with a "Service DEF" warning?

It sounds like the retune did not install right, as the system should not know about the DEF system after a successful install.

I'd try and revert to stock and reinstall the tuner.

    No.

The reason I installed RaceME was because of the service DEF light.

    The RaceME cleared trouble codes.

I said the truck ran great before RaceME install, even with the Service light on.

    It ran great.

For giggles, throw it back to stock, battery tender hooked up, and try the retune again.

It could be the truck might not have taken everything it should have.

It's more common than you think with un fully charged batteries.

Plus, it's free, and it's only Sunday?

They suggest driving for 10 to 15 mins and trying the processes over again.

Any draw in the truck would presumptively give your symptoms.

That is what I am thinking.

I installed initially with charger on and fully charged batteries.

I can not get back to truck until tomorrow morn.

    This is so frustrating.

I hope I can get this sorted.

Is there a chance these symptoms of trans re-learn or EGR not closed?

I did get one code during this test run that never appeared on the truck before.

I cleared the code and no change.

PO868Gov Pressure Sensor Volts too high.

I would say zero chance of a transmission re-learn causing your issues.

The EGR is a possibility that may be worth looking into.

I assume it is already electrically disconnected, so it should be normally closed.

If it ran well before tuning, it would have had to mechanically stuck open since then.

The only way I know to prove that would be to remove the EGR valve and check it’s closed.

If it isn’t, block the flow with a home made plate where the EGR valve attaches to the intake manifold.

If you can rule out the EGR and re-flashing the tunes, don’t fix the issues.

Check to make sure you didn’t unplug anything else after the truck ran fine.
