    Larger Ball Joints?

So apparently, the person that owned the truck before me ground the ball joints out instead of pressing them out.

The hole is wallowed out now and allowing too much play in the steering, and from what the mechanic said, that's why the steering won't return to center.

Do they make a slightly larger ball joint for our axle or some sleeve type?

From what the mechanic said, the only way to fix it is by buying a new axle.

    Any thoughts or ideas?

Yes, they do make slightly larger ball joints.

I ran into a similar issue after installing XRF ball joints on my 06.

XRF joints are slightly larger than oem.

When I removed the XRF joints and replaced them with Carli ball joints, I could push the Carli joints in by hand, and they would fall through.

I reached out to Carli, and they told me to knurl the holes(I used an awl and hammer) and press in the new joints using red Loctite.

It worked great for me, and I never had to do another set.

Depending on how wallowed out the holes, this may work for you.

Several companies out there make oversize ball joints.

Here’s a link to EMF oversize ball joints.

    Thank you.

I am going back to the dealer today to fight over the truck.

These may be the route I go since a used axle is over $2k!
