Just to be clear, the blinking only happened when I plugged into the laptop.

It doesnt even do that when plugged into the truck. It's acts dead.

Yeah, there's the power between 4 and 16 on the OBDII.

Tried formatting the card and reloading the files. Nope.

Tried a newly formatted card with reloaded files. Nope.

Checked the fuse for continuity under the hood. Good.

Triple checked the connections, which seems ok to me.

    IDK pretty bummed right now.

The tuner was worth more than the heater core repair.

    Grrr....
    Did you resolve this issue?

I will double-check them, but they were taped together to keep from ever separating when installed.

My next question is the worst case, would I have to buy another MM3, are they married to the truck?

Are my tunes locked to a tuner?

To answer your question, your tunes are locked to your VIN.

If your MM3 tuner can be repaired or if you purchase a new one, you will be able to insert your existing SD card and be good to go.

If you buy a previously used MM3, you need to buy a new VIN unlock code.

Did you test the OBD port with a scanner?

    Did you call MM3 Power?

Could the dealer have done a software update while it was in for repair?

If so, this may undo your tune and make your unit a chunk of scrap.

It's always a good idea when going in for any service that requires any changes to programming to remove your tune, reinstall after repairs.

Re: Heater Core Replaced - Now My MM3 Is Dead?

I did a heater core replacement in my truck a few months back, and I did mine myself.

Just for this reason and because I didn't want to give the dealer the money they wanted to charge for the job.

I took my time and double-checked everything before I lifted out the dash and replaced the core; then, when I reinstalled the dash, I retook my time and double-checked everything again.

I did pull out my MM3 and then undid batteries before I started.

The total time to do the job was two days for me, but it went smoothly, and everything worked.

I forgot to take pics; otherwise, I would have done a write-up on the entire job and shared it here.

    It wasn't a bad job; I just time-consuming a lot of checks and double-checking to make sure I didn't miss a step.

I hope you get your MM3 back up and working.

It didn't go to a dealer; it went to a local shop.

They didn't over flash the truck.

I'll need to call MM3 to see about having it reviewed.
