    Rough 5th To 4th Downshift?

This just started today, and I'm getting a hard downshift from 5th to 4th when I have the exhaust brake on.

I usually drive around all the time with the brake on Auto.

I have no codes, and everything upshifts as normal, and all other gears are normal when downshifting.

It just seems to be that 5th to 4th.

Has anyone else experienced this before?

Re: Rough 5th To 4th Downshift?

I just had this exact thing start for me about a week ago.

On the downshift from 5th to 4th, only while decelerating. Most noticeable if tow-haul is activated, REALLY bad if exhaust brake is on also.

All other shiftings up or down are smooth, with no error codes displayed.

If cruising in 5th and pressing the accelerator to make it downshift to 4th, it's smooth then.

But as I'm decelerating and it drops from 5th into 4th, it slams HARD.

It felt like something big in the bed slid forward and slammed the cab.

    It hits hard.

I'm afraid to keep driving like this; I'm keeping it locked into 4th with the buttons on the shifter to avoid going into 5th if I'm towing to prevent this slamming downshift.

Did you ever find out what caused it and how to fix yours?

I'm searching this forum for clues but don't know where to go.

Thanks for any help you can give me!
