    Power Steering Additive

    Hey guys, I have a 2014 RAM 2500.

I replaced the steering pump and the hydro booster and put new fluid in it.

It's bin good, but I still have some power steering noise.

I put in Mopar ATFf4, and my question is, I won't put an additive in and don't know if I should go with Lucas power steering additive or Hotshots trans fluid additive?

2014 2500 on Fuel rims, custom aluminum grill emblem, mm3 DRD tuned, 4” jamo tbe exhaust, led fog lights, steering box brace, took Vinyl off doors.

    Re: Power Steering Additive

I've never been a fan of Lucas (there are a Alot of Fans).

I would feel more comfortable adding the HSS (Shift Restore) or maybe even a few ounces of FR3.

Once again - Just my thoughts!

I being the Ana! Owner - @ the 1K mile mark began sucking out the Power Steering reservoir every three months and refilling with Red Line C+ ATF.
Edit: As of the beginning of this Fall - started refilling with TRIAX Global ATF.

Never was noise & Never has been till this day.

Is there a possibility you still could have a little Air in the system?

What size tires are you running?

It seems to me if you replaced everything with new fluid there shouldn’t be any issues.

I feel like additives are a waste of money and maybe just a Band-Aid on a worn out part

I run Mopar Power Steering Fluid +4 no noise is noted.

Sorry, I don’t have any advice on additives, hopefully, others will chime in.

Run the Mopar fluid and, if used, parts from Napa or Carquest Or o Riley’s.

Then you should take those parts off and put the quality OEM parts on, and you should not have any issues.

When the truck was new from the factory, it did not make any noise, so it should be quiet if you were to replicate that Wala.

i thought about air-in the system, but I would think it would work its way out.

All the new parts are OEM.

I started replacing parts because the hydro-boost started leaking in the cab, and I was getting a hissing noise that you could hear from in the cab.

I replaced the hydro-boost and high-pressure line and still had the hissing in the cab; it got a little better.

So I replaced the pump and new fluid; it’s definitely better, but it still has slight hissing and the whine every once and a while.

I talked to a dealer about it, and they said all trucks have the hissing from new you just don’t hear it.

    I don’t believe that.

    Thanks, his videos are helpful.

I tried messaging him, but he never got back to me.

The sound in that video is the sound I have.

The truck he was working on is 12 and older; they changed the design of the high-pressure line on 12 and newer.

I replaced that line and didn’t see anything wrong with the old line when I took it off.

Lube Gard, Its misspelled that way too, I think.

Make sure sediment isnt piled up at the bottom of the reservoir; it will cavitate and make a low on fluid noise, even if it is full.
