    RAM Ball Joint Press Advice

I’m looking for some first-hand experience with installing ball joints.

I’m in the process of getting the correct tools to do this job. I have Snap-On master ball joint press.

By getting different information on what adapter to use.

Snap-on website lists BJP1-28b for RAM 2500-3500 and 1500 Mega cab.

It also lists BJP1RAM1 but for Ram 4500-5500 with Sterling axle.

I’m being told by another group that the BJP1-28b will not work on lower ball joints on 4th Gen 2500.

If anyone has personal experience using this setup, please give me feedback.

I’m looking to get the correct adapter for my truck.

The truck is RAM 2500 4x4, and I’m installing Carli Ball joints, if that helps?
    TIA!

Here is a link to what I used about a year and a half ago.

I think it was just a standard press kit I got off Amazon.

I just used whatever fit, and it worked out just fine.

Re: RAM Ball Joint Press Advice

I just replaced mine a couple weeks ago, this is what I used and a write up about it I posted to a FB group.

"I installed the Carli Life time ball joints on my truck this weekend. It was a pretty easy install over all, and the front end feels way tighter than it did before. I purchased the OTC 8031 kit to do the job. It worked great, super beefy kit. The only down side is that it doesn’t have a cup big enough to push the lower stock ball joint into. So if you plan on using this kit go to your local auto parts store and rent the cup kit and you will have one big enough for it to push inside of. Also the passenger side is a little harder to do because of how the spring bows out a little. I will add that I have a 2017 so my lowers are bigger than the earlier models. At least that’s what it looks like on my buddies 2011."
