    Let's Talk Alternators

Where are all my bass guys at?

I have a 08 2500 6.7L Mega cab, and I recently had my system installed.

Now that everything has been tuned and turned up when certain songs hit hard, I see my battery dummy gauge drop significantly.

I still need to do the significant three power upgrades (as soon as I can get back to the audio shop), but I also want to upgrade my alternate.

What would be a good one to go with?

    I have 2 10's on a 3k Taramp.

I can't even play it loud at night because my headlights will flicker when the beat drops low.

LOL, what have you got for me?

Thanks for the help in advance!

I'm not sure how many are here, but how many watts is your peak draw?

Either way, you might consider a kit like this.

There will be no replacement for capacitors and filtering, but this could help supply the wattage.

There may be better options, and our vendors like DDP may have access to better kits or reduced costs.

Remember, wattage is derived by voltage multiplied by amperage.

So a 250 amp alternator should put out 3000 watts.

    Another option is Mechman alternators.

    They have a 240, 320 & 370 amp for the 6.7.

I have used a 240 on my 01 3500 and had no problems, but I didn't need the amps for a stereo sys.

Call the guys over at mean green.

I ran one of their alternators on my 5.9, and it's still going after seven years.

Never have any issues with the system.

They even had a dual alternator system.

Maybe incorporate that onto yours, install 3rd battery and hook extra alt to is, then to stereo, have your stereo run on its independent charging system, have no effect on your existing electrical loads.
