    CCV Filter/Tuner Issue

I had my oil changed a few months back, and on the way to having it done, this message came up.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to clear the "Service Required/See Dealer now" message from my overhead.

I have tried the brake pedal twice, and the gas twice turns off and restart.

Nothing I even tried to use my Scanner (I have a Snap-On).

It clears it but comes back in about a week. I'm new to the diesel life coming from a 5.7 Hemi.

I'm not afraid to get in there, but this is a new world for me, and I'm trying to learn everything I can about it. I've searched other Cummins forums, but nothing is helping.

I'm just afraid my tune has to be uninstalled so that truck can be returned to stock mode and then reinstalled after the message clears; my tune won't reinstall.

I have the H&S XRT Pro on the truck.

With them no longer in business, I can't afford to have the truck go into limp mode because it won't retake the tune.

    Any help is appreciated.

I got that message a couple of times.

Once I replaced the filter, the message went away and hadn’t come back.

I’m no expert, but I believe the computer monitors it for restriction and throws the message.

    I installed the OE replacement.

I had read that some of the cheaper aftermarket units can pop random codes.

    Just a thought.

CCV Filter is an easy fix.

    It can't hurt to try.

Worst case, you have a fresh filter.

    Just my 2 cents.

    So change it again?

I just replaced it when I had that oil change done.

Try looking up on YouTube how to reset the service message on your year truck.

I think on my 2016, I turned the key all the way on without starting and depressed the fuel pedal fully 3 times in 20 seconds and then turned the switch off and opened the door to make the computer go to sleep.

It’s been a while since I’ve done this, so if you don’t have a truck manual or can’t get any answers you are looking for, try YouTube.

    I'm an idiot.

I skipped through the part about you changing it with oil.

    Sorry.

    Re: CCV Filter/Tuner Issue

If the brake/accelerator procedure and scan tool are not getting rid of the service message, I would disconnect both batteries for 30 minutes with the positive and negative terminals connected.

If this doesn’t work, it may be worth a trip to the dealership that performed the oil and CC filter change.

    Please keep us posted.

    Re: CCV Filter/Tuner Issue

    I've seen this before.

After a filter change, you should be able to clear it with the scan tool, and if it comes back, it is possible that the pressure sensor on top of the valve cover has failed, or maybe there is a wrong spot in the harness.

    Re: CCV Filter/Tuner Issue

It’s an issue with H&S software.

The later software releases fixed it, but as we all know, H&S is no more.

You can clear DTCS in the display even though there are no codes.

It will remove the message for a couple of hundred miles.

It will not affect the truck, though.
