    2007.5 6.7L Cummins Exhaust Brake

    Ok, here goes.

I have a deleted 2007.5 6.7L that just cost me a pretty penny for an ECU; however, after I got it replaced, the shop recommended that I return the tuner because my old one was acting strange and may have contributed to the frying of the computer.

MY EXHAUST BRAKE ISN'T WORKING WELL after I got it replaced and brought her back.

I went the wrong route of parts cannon and assumed I had a lousy actuator.

I replaced it myself and didn't change anything; the shop is refusing to look into it without it being a whole new ticket and possibly costing many more $$$.

I already tried returning the truck to stock and test driving it, and it didn't affect anything, so I reinstalled the tune and came here with my head hung low any advice is appreciated.

When you replaced the actuator, did you calibrate it?

Do you have any trouble codes?

I got the actuator from City Diesel that doesn’t require calibration.

Did you have a full, smooth movement of the turbo veins from stop to stop?

Are you able to monitor VGT actual vs. desired with your tuner?

    I cannot do that.

I have an H&S Mini Maxx, and yes, when I had the actuator off, I moved it by hand.

It wasn’t loose, but it wasn’t seized and went both directions until it clicked; also, when driving, it acts normal.

Hopefully, some of the folks familiar with the 3rd Gen’s will chime in on this one.

The only other thing that comes to my mind would be the exhaust pressure sensor.

Check the electrical connections and ensure the pipe and sensor are not restricted.

I am getting exhaust backpressure reading on the tuner going up and down like it did when the exhaust brake was working; it’s just strange timing.

Try unplugging the NOX sensor wire into the pass-side frame rail box.

Everything emissions-related is gone; those plugs are taped up and zip-tied to the frame.

The turbo actuator and NOX sensor communicate with the ECM via wires.

The box on the frame rail that the NOX sensor plugs into can corrode internally and knock out the communication along those common wires.

I had the same problem with mine about a year ago.

I can't remember which wires are which now, but one of the two communication wires was shorted to the ground.

I spent hours going thru the wiring harness, trying to find it.

I unplugged the NOX sensor from the box, and that was where it was shorted.

I hope yours is that simple.
    Kyle
