    Brake Pedal Goes 3/4 Down

I got into my truck today to go to the store and went to stop, and the brake pedal went 3/4 to the floor and began to choke.

While driving, the pedal feels normal, but the pedal fades to the bottom once again as you add to pressure.

If you make a quick brake check to the floor, it will stop but lock up?

I didn't check the fluid before driving, but afterward, when i got home, I did, and it appears complete.

I also don't see any leaks in the snow or on any wheels.

I'm leaning towards the master cylinder failing.

Does anybody else have this issue?

If you are not losing any fluid, then it is likely the master cylinder is allowing some fluid to bypass the internal seals.

That will be time for a replacement.

Brake fluid turns dark as it attracts moisture.

That moisture starts to pit the inside of the bore then it bypasses.

When you replace that, look into getting one of them, pressure bleeders.

They are a little pricey, but man, are they worth it.

I was able to bleed one truck from no fluid in the system (complete system overhaul) and do a full flush on my 2012 in less than about an hour by myself.

Just fill it, hook it up, pump up the pressure and crank your bleed screws until you have clean fluid coming out.

    Comes out perfect every time.

I got a better pedal feel (no specific problems other than dirty fluid) just by a system flush.

    Great tip.

If possible, please post a link to the kit that you have.

    Thanks.

Here is the kit I have.

I've used it on my 1990 Dakota and my 2012 RAM.

    It fits and works great.

If you have other vehicles, you buy the adapter for the application, and you are good to go.
