Thread: 6.7L Cummins Tuning?

  1. Top Of Page | #1

    6.7L Cummins Tuning?

    I have a 2014 RAM that I swapped from a 68RFE to an NV5600.

I'm using Warp tuning software to tune it.

It has an S366 for air and stock fuel.

Now I have already done the recovery file and set up my tune.

However, the truck doesn't fuel hard at all for some reason.

No matter where I put duration.

I've gone through all the limiters, and they are either off or the whole way up.

It makes good rail pressure the whole time.

All temp and pressure sensors are reading normal. I raised the accelerator one map torque request, which helped a little.

    Turn air-fuel control off.

Then did a data log and found the engine load request never goes past 70 percent.

Even at 100 percent pedal. Most of the time, it's under 30 percent demanded load.

So does anyone know how the ECU on this engine determines load demand?

Could my issue be MAF-related as far as airflow tables?

How does the ECU use the airflow table in Warp tuning?

    Any help is appreciated.

    A couple of thoughts:

I would start by comparing manual vs. auto-tunes to determine what is changed between the two to generate the power differences from the factory.

Once you determine the differences, it should point you to what is going on.

What happens if you have just the stock G56 tune-in?

Do you get 100% load requests?

    Is torque management on?

I also seem to remember reading that a module or two needs Alfa OBD for reconfiguring to manual as ESC is in the body control module.

The stock tune acts the same.

All torque management is off, or limits are raised.

I checked both files from auto to manual and set the torque request higher on the manual file.

It still only sends a 30 percent load request unless you lug the truck hard.

If you roll into the pedal, it barely can get out of its way.

It feels like it's refueling, honestly.

The ABS and traction control lights are on as well because the ABS module needs to be relearned, but I haven't heard of that causing this issue.

It may be the traction control that is causing the issue.

    A couple of other thoughts:

in feature, misc parameters, in gear TQ limit 1 and 2 what are the values?

In some programs, a max high value can be ignored.

Try reducing a bit and keep in mind the hp and torque values are in metric.

Are there any other hard or soft codes popping up?

There are also a few derates/torque limits for main injection and rail pressure.

Lastly on since no longer using VGT:
    Turbo surge fuel
    VGT backup map enable
    Compr eff
    Compr ratio
    Compr ratio no maf

    Stability control is off.

TQ limits are all set high.

    No codes.

As far as setting up the VGT maps, I assumed I did not need to touch them since I was not using VGT anymore?

There should be an option to disable the VGT module (VGT Module Fitted).

I am not familiar with Warp tuning as I am with HP Tuners and EFI Live, so that the value may be different.

If the VGT module is enabled, the tables will most likely be in play.

When it comes to fueling, adding duration takes the commanded fuel based on the requested torque or pedal position and spreads it over a long time from the start of the main injection.

You are not adding more fuel.

First, you have to command the quantity based on your pedal position.

Then you need to configure your duration and pressure.

Then calculate your injection time based on what percentage you want before TDC (usually 50% for peak torque).

If you haven't done so already, ditch the post-injection fueling.

    Be careful with timing.

You should have head studs if you start adding timing.

    Re: 6.7L Cummins Tuning?

It looks like the VGT disable or not present is not available in WARP.

I may be switching tunning software.

As of now, there was a gentleman who removed the turbo speed derate with a binary file, and it runs alot better, but I now have a code from the abs module that says torque request denied.

I've tried to relearn the ABS module with alpha OBD, and the abs light goes out, but the t control light is on, and that code is active.

On your AlfaOBD/ABS module issue, wondering if this link will help.

Let me know if you figure out how to get the ABS light and traction control light off.

I have just done a G56 swap on my 2017, and I have the same lights.

I just got ALFE OBD today, but I don't know how to use it yet, LOL.

    Thanks and good luck.
