Vibration In Front Diff When 4x4 Locked In

This is on my '06 3500 Laramie 4x4 Mega Cab that has 302k miles.

Shortly after replacing the front U-joint and rear main seal.

I needed a 4-wheel alignment and noticed a slight vibration and low whirly noise.

It's been about a month now, and we've got much more snow in the area.

I have had to pop into 4x4 several times, and the vibration happens during acceleration but not when letting off the pedal.

A mechanic friend says this is the front diff CV and that the wheel CV is also on its way out.

So looking like I'll have to replace them.

When I look upfront axle and CV, I get mixed info about the whole front axle assembly costing around $1800 to $2200 for the entire body.

Has anyone had this happen and replaced all the CVs in the front end?

I wanted to get the parts ordered and in hand but am unsure what I need to be replacing.

    Thanks!

There is a cv on the driveshaft.

That is a common catastrophic failure point due to poor maintenance.

Front axle shafts are not a cv, and they are traditional joints.

No need to replace the complete front end when it just needs maintenance
