    2019 RAM 3500 - Codes P0735 & P0729

2019 RAM 3500 Running RaceME programmer.

If i am cruising down the road at 60 MPH and passing another vehicle, the transmission kicks down, and the check engine light will be set with two codes.

    P0729 Gear 6 Incorrect Ratio
P0735 Gear ratio Error in 5th

The truck has 19k miles runs excellent all other times.

Only notice the code if you push it slightly hard on the top gears.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

You have slipped the over-drive clutches.

    She's junk.

I was able to go easy for a while, drop down to 4th manualy if you want to pass, but you need a new transmission soon.

Take it back to the dealership.

    It should be under warranty.

    Re: 2019 RAM 3500 - Codes P0735 & P0729

Is it worth me even trying to make my truck stock again and take it back to the dealership in a Hail Mary to have them replace mine for me.

0735 just happened to me tonight, officially.

It’s sadly not the first time it’s happened.

And like a dumb, I took everyone’s word for it. “You’re overthinking it. It didn’t throw a code; you’re fine.”

Within the first 1,500 miles of owning the truck, I tried to pass someone, and I experienced a very similar 6th to 5th, rpm jump, let off, ease back into it.

    Proceed on my way.

Wipe the sweat off my forehead.

    That was stock.

Been running a 75hp tune for about 5,000 miles, and today it happens 1-5, half throttle; I think it jumped to 6th, slipped down to 5th, then possibly slipped down to 4th.

I limped the mile home, and here I am on the internet.

Is there ANYTHING I can do? Valve body and 200psi tune?

5th and 6th gear replacement with valve body?

    Any input would be appreciated.

See attached information on your trouble code.

I would check for low fluid or speed sensor issues first.

I see you have a 2021 model truck.

If you have removed the emissions equipment, then I would reinstall and take it in for warranty.

    Hopefully, others will chime in.

Luckily this big old monster fits in my garage, so I’ll give it a shot at returning it to stock and see what the dealership has to say.

Otherwise, we begin the process of 68 builders or just going to a 48.

    Pray for me, guys!

Does anyone believe the dealership will replace this with the “thumbprint” that the aftermarket tune left behind?

The 2018 year models and up do not leave a footprint like the older years.

See post #4 in the link below.

My last and annoying question AK.

If I installed a billet valve body and got the line pressure bumped up more, this could potentially put a band-aid on my situation for the summer. :'(

I honestly don't know if the valve body and increased line pressure will be a good band-aid.

I will be concerned if you do that; you may void any future warranty coverage on that transmission.

My recommendation would be to return to sock and see if they will repair or replace it under warranty.
