    DEF Quality Sensor

Is the DEF quality sensor (as shown below in a 2016) active in the 2014 and earlier trucks?

Or perhaps @AK Bob could shed some light on that?
    Thanks,

I looked through all the CAN BUS diagrams for my 2014, but could not find any reference to the DEF quality sensor.

The only reference to a quality sensor I found was in the DEF system diagram between the urea pump and the SCR module (see attached).

    Re: DEF Quality Sensor

    Thank you Sir.

The reason it came up in another thread (again) is because of the supposed DEF shortage we're facing (or will soon be facing).

Diluting DEF (one gal of distilled water to one 2.5 gallon jug of DEF) has been going on for a long time in these pickups.

Distilled water is obviously cheaper than DEF and has the added effect of keeping the DEF pump, lines, and DEF injector much cleaner and less likely to failure.

Most say that any pre 2017 can run distilled water however my 2016 is equipped with the UREA Quality Sensor so running distilled water is a No-Go for me.

So now the only year I'm not sure of is the 2015.

    Thank you for your reply.
