    Morimotos Or AlphaRex?

I'm looking to upgrade my headlights to LEDs.

I didn't think what I had was that bad until I bought the wife a new Expedition, and it has factory LEDs; wow.

    I'm depressed now, LOL.

    So here we go.

    2018 RAM 2500 Longhorn.

I am looking to go with the Morimoto XBs with either the white DRLs or the amber DRLs.

I can't decide on that. However, recent Youtube research (if you can call Youtube research) had some more good videos with the AlphaRex Nova line.

I'm not entirely sure I like them as much as the Morimotos but performance is where it's at.

The Alphas look more "aftermarket" to me...a little less clean than the Morimotos.

That's just based on what I've seen online.

I have never seen either in person.

Have any of you guys installed either one or have experience?

I am looking for some honest real world feedback.

After 150 miles, I ordered HIDs from the headlight revolution.

At first, I hated them. I ordered LEDs from them; next, I think the Phenix.

I have had zero issues with customer service with the headlight revolution.

I have had a few buddies with 4th Gens buy the 5th Gen led conversion through Morimoto and have had nothing but problems.

I'm sticking with my HIDs/LEDs until I feel it's easier to replace the entire light assembly to replace a light.

Assuming your truck has the factory halogen projectors I recommend replacing the factory bulbs with a quality LED or HID bulb.

Several years ago I put Morimoto HIDs in the halogen projectors on the wife's 4 Runner and it was an amazing difference.

I really like what I've seen on the Morimoto 2 Stroke LEDs and that's what I'll use next time when these HIDs give out.

If you have the factory projector take these steps.

Morimoto 55w hid for low and fog lights (6k bulb) and acme arsenal 75w hid for high beam (8k bulb) get the pwm harness kits need 3 one for each bulb mode ie fog low high.

ZERO other lights can compete with the raw output you will get.

The reason for 6k and 8k bulbs is due to the wattage of the hid , higher wattage will bring down the color to a 5.5k on the 55w and 5.5-6k on the 75w giving you the most lux or light on the area

The LEDs were easier than HIDs because they didn't require a hole drilled in dust cover.

The modulator fit inside the dust cover.

I like the power of my HIDs.

I like the ease of use on the LEDs.

Also, the HIDs are supposed to be better if you have projector lights than the LEDs.

LED’s wouldn’t work in my truck headlights because of the canBUS system being so sensitive.

No matter what I did, I couldn’t get them to both stay on.

I went with HID’s with 5k for pure white look.

They matched my Morimoto fog lights.

I have had AlphaRex LUXX headlights in mine for a little less than a year.
So far so good...They've been reliable and are plenty bright.

My only complaints are that the light cutoff is more of a staggered line than a clean/strait line and I wish you could toggle between solid or sequential turn signals.

I have the Morimoto XB's on my 2017 and the AlphaRex on my 2020, and both are great lights.

The 2021 is a tradesman, and the change from Halogens is like night and day.

The AlphaRex does have the logo in the lower turn signal lens, and I was disappointed with that, but both were installed without issues.
