    Cleaning Your Turbo?

How often should you clean your turbo, and what cleaner do you recommend?

Good Question - Interested in the advice that you will receive.

My only thing I have been told and from past experience is to Keep a High Quality (Clean) air filter in place & keep the Air Box Clean as well.

There are plenty of products that are said to clean the turbo. . .

But. . .As with any chemical agent that goes thru the combustion cycle, whether its a fuel additive or a spray-in the turbo product, the question becomes; "what is it doing to the emissions system of the vehicle?"

Obviously that is only a concern to the handful of us here that have a bone-stock truck.

There are many turbo cleaner products to choose from. Amazon or a Google search will lead you to them.

Keep us posted and let us know what you choose to use.
    Thanks!

The VGT is the only thing that might benefit from being “cleaned”.

If your turbo cartridge doesn’t have a threaded plug on it you can’t properly clean it.

You can get it drilled, some dealerships might still have the tool.

Simply spraying cleaner through the compressor housing or the exhaust manifold won’t help much.
