Factory Air Bag Failure

I got a 2018 Ram 2500 Longhorn when 50k miles on it.

I took it in for service and left the front ball joint shot (maybe not surprised), and they say the left rear factory airbag was about to come apart.

That one has me a bit perplexed.

I don't' generally tow heavy and the truck isn't' abused.

I'm not sure what the longevity is on these, but 50k miles has me concerned.

Any experience?

Is this common?

What would that look like?

And how would they ha e known?

Did you have an airbag light on or the sort?
They certainly wouldn't just randomly tear into the airbag to see if it were messed up.

Well they had a reason as I just installed a Carli pintop leveling kit on the truck and wanted them to check everything to ensure it looked good. However that same thing crossed my mind.

Ahh yes sorry LOL. I knew what I was talking about…didn’t think about how it might seem to someone unaware of the situation. Yes factory rear air suspension air bag.
